The lodge sits in the heart of Patagonia, in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, on the shores of Lake Pehoe. It has breathtaking views of the Paine ridge and the granite towers. With over 50 different guided hikes and horseback rides, travelers are sure to have breathtaking views of glaciers, lakes and mountains. Design & Sustainability at Explora Torres del Paine Lodge
The lodge’s construction is inspired by the natural colors of the Torres del Paine National Park and based around essential luxuries, allowing guests to inhabit the remote location in its essence, without distractions. Wood plays a fundamental role in the design, including species such as lenga, cypress and almendrillo. The lodge’s architecture makes extensive use of natural light and thermal insulation, which along with low-consumption lighting systems optimizes the energy use throughout the property.
The lodge has a water treatment and purification plant so that water can be recycled and consumed. In addition, the lodge has a biomass system which significantly reduces its CO2 emissions. Waste, meanwhile, is separated and recycled.
Common Areas at Explora Torres del Paine Lodge
The massage room and pool area are located 328 feet (100 meters) away from the main building, connected by a sloped wooden path. It is equipped with a heated, covered pool, sauna and four open-air Jacuzzis with views of Pehoe Lake and Paine Massif. An onsite store carries all the items necessary for explorations, along with local artisanal goods and books about the area.
Dining at Explora Torres del Paine Lodge
Meals are artistic and thoughtful, made with only the finest quality ingredients, and ensure authentic flavors. Meals will always be matched by a good wine, while a selection of premium wines is also available. There is a wine corner space next to the restaurant that is designed for presenting and tasting premium Chilean wines. The Explorer’s Bar is the meeting place for guides and guests to plan explorations.
Activities at Explora Torres del Paine Lodge
Explora Lodge Torres del Paine offers over 50 different guided hikes and horseback rides for all activity levels. It is the only hotel in the area with its own horses, bred and trained especially for Explora’s horse expeditions. The 26 horses of different breeds and crosses have been raised in the Ibáñez family estate in the central valley of Chile. The team is led by an equestrian veterinarian who specializes in their care and trains them for exploring Patagonia.
Explora holds the Lago Pehoé concession and has its own dock and two catamarans for approximately 20 people each. The captain has many years of experience navigating in Patagonian waters. Depending on weather conditions, there are lake crossings every day.
The 49 rooms of Explora Lodge Torres del Paine are designed to take full advantage of the stillness of the surrounding landscape, ensuring deep rest after a long day of exploration. Rooms are not equipped with WiFi, television or minibars so guests can fully unwind and cleanse.
