Your expedition leader will be waiting for you at Marina Pez Vela, in Quepos. After a short walk you will be embarking the ship. Your captain and crew will give you a warm welcome and your concierge will oversee the welcome briefing and cabin assignment. Join on the Sundeck for a cocktail while you sail to Nicoya Gulf and watch the spectacular sunset. Safety and expedition briefing at night, followed by your welcome dinner.

After breakfast, a private transfer will take you for a 60-minute ride to the Savegre River for a special white-water rafting class. The Savegre River offers II and III-class rapids in the purest waters of Costa Rica. Its bends and turns offer adrenaline and excitement to people of all ages and no previous experience in rafting is required. Prepare to admire exuberant flora and abundant fauna around, floating down and even hopping off your raft to swim in calmer waters. Return to the yacht for lunch.

Enjoy an afternoon of marine activities in Biesanz Bay with a kayak exploration of the surrounding area, snorkeling, paddleboarding, gliding with a Seabob, or enjoying the ship’s amazing Oceanic Club.

Arrive in Isla del Caño and disembark in a unique underwater expedition to discover one of the largest and best-preserved coral reefs in the Pacific Ocean. This island is not only an amazing spot for snorkeling and scuba diving, but it also has great conditions for the upbringing of young humpback whales, and it is not uncommon to see them around during whale season (July-September). Enjoy a morning of a guided snorkeling expedition. Lunch on board.

Enjoy an afternoon of marine activities with the Oceanic Club deployed: Slide, piers, seabobs, kayaks, SUPs, island, etc. During your sailing to Drake Bay, look out for playful dolphins swimming next to the yacht. Dinner on board.

Disembark in Corcovado National Park with a wet landing in the beach at La Sirena ranger station. The crown jewel of the South Pacific, Corcovado sits like an emerald crown on the Osa Peninsula. Renowned as one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, its ancient rainforests teem with life. Towering trees pierce the sky, their limbs draped in emerald vines and vibrant bromeliads. Scarlet macaws flash through the canopy, their calls echoing through the humid air. Tapirs, elusive and shy, weave through the undergrowth, while spider monkeys swing acrobatically from branch to branch. Jaguars, the apex predators of these wild lands, stalk unseen, their presence a whisper on the forest floor. Lunch on board.

Take the afternoon to relax on board and enjoy a workshop while sailing to your next stop in Puerto Jimenez. After the transit, disembark and transfer to the airport or nearby hotel.

Airfare; immigration fees; transfers between San Jose and Quepos or Puerto Jimenez; pre-cruise accommodation; select fine wine and spirits; extensions; crew and guide gratuities; scuba diving (approx. $250 per person for 2 dives in 2025); Advanced Provisioning Allowance, e.g. estimated food, fees, fuel, gratuities, etc. (charters only); and insurance of any kind.

Payment & Cancellation

In order to confirm this trip, a deposit of $1,000 ($2,000 for single occupancy) is required per person at time of booking. The balance of the trip price is due 90 days before the departure date. Special payment and cancelation terms may apply for holidays and group booking 3 cabins or more, inquire for details. Guests who must cancel their trip for any reason must do so in writing. Standard cancellations are subject to the following per-person fees, based on number of days prior to departure:
Up to 91 days – 50% of deposit
90 to 60 days – 100% of deposit
59 to 0 days – 100% of total trip cost

Arrival & Departure

The 5-day southbound Kontiki Pura Vida cruise begins Quepos (XQP) ends Puerto Jimenez (PJM). Plan international flights to arrive to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) ahead of Day 1 of the itinerary, as embarkation is at 4 pm on Day 1 in Quepos, which is best reached via a domestic flight. Disembarkation is after breakfast on the final day of the outlined itinerary. Plan flights to depart San Jose no earlier than 8:00pm on the final day, or plan on an overnight in San Jose.
