6-Day Eastern Itinerary (A)
This departure follows the 6-day Eastern Islands Galapagos Cruise itinerary from San Cristobal to Baltra, departing on Tuesday and returning on Sunday.
Upon arrival at San Cristobal Airport, pass through immigration and baggage claim, you will be met by a Sea Star staff member and transferred to the yacht. You will be shown to your cabin where you will have some time to settle in before lunch and a welcome briefing.
In the afternoon, visit Breeding Center David Rodriguez – “La Galapaguera”. In Cerro Colorado, is a new visitor site in the southeast part of San Cristobal Island and can now be reached in roughly one hour by road from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. On the trees and shrubs surrounding the site, you may see land birds like warblers, finches and mockingbirds. Giant tortoises can be observed on the trails. They live there wild but in a protected area to ensure their survival by sealing them off from introduced predators like pigs and goats.
In the morning, walk to Suarez Point you will have the chance to spot blue-footed boobies, albatrosses, and Nazca boobies. This island is the breeding site of nearly all of the world’s 12,000 pairs of waved albatrosses. You will also visit a beautiful site on the ocean front where there is a cliff that the large albatrosses use as a launching pad! You will have the chance to see the famous blowhole that spurts sea water into the air. The landscape is great for photography.
In the afternoon, visit Gardner Bay, Gardner Islet & Osborn Islet. This excursion takes you to the spectacular Gardner Bay. After landing, you can walk across a lovely white-sand beach amongst a
busy sea lion colony or dive into the water to swim with sea lion pups. You may also see curious mockingbirds on the beach.
This morning explore Cormorant Point and possibly the best flamingo lagoon in the Galapagos; it is also one of the largest in the islands. Two tuff lava cones provide a particularly special atmosphere, and various species of shorebirds including common stilts, white-cheeked pintail ducks and other migratory birds can be seen. Two distinct beaches make this visit intriguing: the Green Beach, with its high percentage of olivine crystals in the sand and the Flour Sand Beach made up of coral.
Afterwards, you will have a chance to snorkel around Devil’s Crown which is the rocky remains of an offshore volcano sticking out of the water. This is a great location to spot a wide range of marine creatures.
In the afternoon visit Baroness Viewing Point, a fantastic place to absorb the environment of the Galapagos. Once inhabited by an indulgent baroness and her three lovers, the history of this island is intriguing. The legends about this baroness are associated with a fascinating murder mystery. There are easy trails in this area for exploring the flora and fauna of Floreana.
Afterwards, you will land on a beach and head to a spot where 18th century whalers placed a wooden barrel used as an unofficial mail box. The custom continues to this day with Galapagos visitors. So, don’t forget your postcards, and don’t be surprised if the post card arrives to its destination before you even get home!
In the morning, visit Santa Fe Island (Barrington), home to a small picturesque bay and anchorage on the island’s northeast coast. The bay has two visitor trails: one leading to a scenic viewpoint atop a cliff, and the other spanning from a small beach to a tall prickly pear cactus forest.
In the afternoon, visit South Plaza Island. This small island with steep cliffs was formed by rising lava and is now covered by Opuntia cacti. It is also home to one of the largest sea lion colonies as well as colorful yellow and red land iguanas. The most characteristic plant is the Sesuvium. During the rainy season its color is a greenish to yellowish tone and in the dry season (end of June through January) a bright red.
In the morning, visit North Seymour, where you may see Galapagos sea lions, blue-footed boobies, and magnificent frigate birds, which are abundant on this island. North Seymour was formed by a series of submarine lava flows containing layers of sediment that were uplifted by tectonic activity. The island is characterized by its arid vegetation zone.
In the afternoon, visit Bachas Beach, located on the north shore of Santa Cruz, which is a beach for swimming. One of the few remnants of the U.S. World War II presence in the Galapagos, a floating pier, can be seen here. You may see flamingos, Sally Lightfoot crabs, hermit crabs, black-necked stilts, and whimbrels. Sea turtles also nest on the beach.
Spend this morning at Mosquera Islet located between Baltra and North Seymour Islands. This small islet was formed by a geological uplift; its narrowest width reaches approximately 525 feet; and it has one of the largest populations of sea lions. Several species of shorebirds can be observed and dolphins and orcas can also sometimes be spotted.
After, disembark the ship at Baltra and transfer to the Baltra airport to fly back to Quito or Guayaquil.

Most flights to the Galapagos will depart Quito or Guayaquil between 6:00am and 11:00am on Day 1 and return between 2:00pm and 6:00pm on the final day. Internal Flights
Flights from mainland Ecuador (Quito or Guayaquil) to the Galapagos are not included in the cruise price, but are arranged for you by AdventureSmith Explorations through your ship. Your Adventure Specialist will book these flights for you on the scheduled Galapagos flight for your particular departure. Airfares vary by departure; your Adventure Specialist will detail these for you in their proposal and on your invoice. On flights from mainland Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands, baggage weight limits are currently 50 pounds for checked items, and 17 pounds for carry-on plus a small personal item. Subject to change.
Activities
There are numerous opportunities to swim and snorkel. The underwater experience is an integral part of any Galapagos cruise. We encourage all travelers to try snorkeling. Wetsuits are available, either free of charge or to rent for a fee (see Inclusions and Exclusions), and are recommended from June to December.
Daily excursions from the boat to the islands will be made in pangas (inflatable skiffs). Trip members will hike from the landing point to specific areas for wildlife observation. Hiking time for most landings will be a couple of hours round-trip with lots of time to stop to study, photograph and enjoy the flora and fauna. Some landings are dry but many are “wet,” requiring cautious footing on slippery rocks. The boat staff will be on hand to assist.

Single travelers wishing to book a double-occupancy cabin may do so at an 50% supplement of the per-person listed rate in select cabins upon availability. Groups of 4-16 passengers will receive a 10% discount.
Families & Children

6-Day Western Itinerary (C)
This departure follows the 6-day Western Islands Galapagos Cruise itinerary from Baltra to San Cristobal, Thursday through Tuesday.
Upon arrival at Baltra Airport, pass through an airport inspection point to ensure no foreign plants or animals are introduced to the islands, as well as to pay the park entrance fee of $100 (unless it has been prepaid). Be met by a guide who will help collect luggage and escort guests to a bus for a short ride to the the Itabaca Channel and transfer to Puerto Ayora for embarkation.
After departure and lunch, the first island excursion is to the Charles Darwin Station for an educational background on the islands. Although the great majority of Galapagos visitors come here to observe and appreciate natural wonders, they also find it interesting to learn how the protection and conservation of the islands are carried out. One of the main attractions is the National Park information center, the Van Staelen Exhibition Hall and the Breeding and Rearing Center for young tortoises.
Begin today with a nice panga ride through the Whitetip Reef Shark Canal. Explore the Tintoreras – small islands in front of the Puerto Villamil coast. Heron look out from mangrove branches amongst the lava while Galapagos penguins and sea lions pop up on shore. Whitetip reef sharks, or in Spanish “Tintoreras,” are fairly common in the archipelago and can be found resting in the shallow waters.
After lunch, land in Puerto Villamil, which has the second smallest population in Galapagos with approximately 3000 inhabitants. Head up to the highlands from Puerto Villamil to Sierra Negra slope and hike on uneven terrain to the Sierra Negra volcano rim. From this viewpoint, enjoy fantastic sights to the 6- by 5-mile-wide crater, which is the second widest crater in the world, and the rest of the volcanoes and Perry Isthmus, a roughly 7.5-mile-wide lava field. Another option is to hike to Chico Volcano to watch the striking lava formations, examples of the geological occurrences that have created the Galapagos Islands.
Begin the day with a hike along Punta Moreno on the north coast of Isabela Island between the volcano Sierra Negra and Cerro Azul volcano. The trail runs along a lava flow of Pahohoe (solidified lava in the form of an accordion) into a complex of coastal lagoons, where several species of birds can be seen around the lakes and mangroves.
In the afternoon, explore Elizabeth Bay, a marine visitor site carried out in pangas with no landing point. Panga rides start with a visit to the Marielas Islets to view the largest and most important penguin colony in the Galapagos Islands. Continue into a cove surrounded by red mangroves with spectacular red roots and green leafs, where sea turtles, flightless cormorants, spotted eagle rays, golden rays, brown pelicans and sea lions can be seen. Keep an eye out for Galapagos hawks soaring overhead and schools of pompano and dorado fish swimming below.
Today visit Punta Espinoza, the only visitor site on Fernandina Island, which is the third largest island in the archipelago. Across Tagus Cove witness some of the most unique species in the Galapagos Islands as well as marine iguanas whose groupings here are larger than anywhere else on the islands. They bask in the sand, swim near the shore and sometimes block the way to the visitor’s landing dock. Take in sights of the unique flightless cormorant, whose wings, tail and feet have become adapted for swimming. They have adjusted their way of survival by improving their skills of finding food in the ocean.
Later, take a tour in Tagus Cove along the cliffs in a Panga to see Galapagos penguins, flightless cormorants and other seabirds. From the landing dock take a 30-minute hike to the top of the cliff where you can see Darwin Lake, an uplifted ultra saline lake that is saltier than the sea. Several volcanoes can be seen from this viewpoint. Be sure to look for graffiti on the surrounding cliffs, that was written by pirates, whalers and buccaneers from past centuries.
This morning, visit Espumilla Beach on the northern coast of Santiago Island in James Bay. During the last presence of the El Niño phenomenon, one of the two lagoons in this site underwent a process of sedimentation, causing the disappearance of a representative colony of flamingos. Explore the Palo Santo forest, marvelous landscape and beach that is an important nesting site for marine turtles. In the afternoon visit Puerto Egas, a black beach located at the west side of Santiago Island that gets its special color from volcanic tuff deposits. Puerto Egas is named after Hector Egas, who tried to start an exploitation of salt, which failed because the price of salt on the continent was cheap and did not justify exporting it from the Galapagos. They abandoned the project but left the infrastructure.
Spend the morning on Isla Lobos after taking an approximately one-hour panga ride from Port Baquerizo Moreno, the capital of San Cristobal Island. Enjoy a trail that leads across a dry vegetation zone, substrate of volcanic rocks and sandy areas. Observe a small population of blue-footed boobies and frigate birds nesting here. At the beach look for a large colony of sea lions and shorebirds. After the visit to Isla Lobos, disembark the ship and transfer to the airport in San Cristobal to fly back to Quito or Guayaquil.

5-Day Northern Itinerary (B)
This departure follows the 5-day Northern Islands Galapagos Cruise itinerary round-trip from Baltra, Sunday through Thursday.
Upon arrival at Baltra Airport, proceed through immigration and baggage claim. You will then be met by a Sea Star staff member and transferred to the yacht. You will be shown to your cabin where you will have some time to settle in before lunch and a welcome briefing.
In the afternoon, visit Dragon Hill, situated on Santa Cruz Island, Dragon Hill is one of the newest visitor sites accessible to tourists in the Galapagos Islands. One of the lengthier Galapagos walking trails will lead visitors along a beach and up a trail to the lagoon lookout where bright flamingos, pintail ducks, and land iguanas can be spotted.
In the morning, visit Black Turtle Cove in the northern part of Santa Cruz. This inlet is surrounded by mangroves and is only accessible by dinghy. The shallow cove is a haven for young marine life. Black-tip and white-tip reef sharks, sea turtles, and a variety of rays are often spotted here.
In the afternoon, visit Chinese Hat Islet. This small islet is located near the southeast coast of Santiago Island. Its name comes from the distinct shape of the islet’s summit. Chinese Islet is a great location to view many geological formations such as lava tunnels and lava flows. Some of the lava flows were formed underwater and subsequently raised above sea level. The presence of coral heads on the lava flow indicates this phenomenon.
In the morning, visit El Barranco also known as Prince Phillip’s Steps, is a steep, rocky path that leads up a high cliff rock face. A marvelous view can be appreciated from here. This site is also home to Palo Santo vegetation as well as red-footed boobies, short-eared owls, Galapagos storm petrels, and Galapagos doves.
In the afternoon, visit the white-sand coral beach of Darwin Bay, which includes a half mile trail (0,75km) that winds through mangroves filled with land birds. Nazca boobies, red-footed boobies, and swallow-tailed gulls, which can easily be spotted here. Further down the path you’ll find tidal pools where sea lions swim playfully. At the end is a spectacular view of a cliff.
In the morning you will head to Bartholomew Island where the famous Pinnacle Rock is found. Bartholomew consists of an extinct volcano with a variety of red, orange, black and even green volcanic formations. You will take a trail of stairs to the summit of the volcano (about 30 or 40 minutes) where you will enjoy one of the best views of the islands! A beautiful beach surrounded by the only vegetation is perfect for snorkeling where you may even see and swim with Galapagos penguins.
In the afternoon, you will visit Sullivan Bay located on the southeast part of Santiago. This place is interesting for its geology because the area is covered by lava flows. This place has elevations in the form of small volcanoes formed by the lava flows.
In the morning, visit the Santa Cruz highlands. Accessible by bus from Puerto Ayora, the highlands of Santa Cruz are a deep green which contrasts beautifully with the dry, lower part of the islands. The predominant vegetation in the highlands is Scalesia trees, which create a lush green forest. The lava tunnels, over half a mile long, are underground and walking through them is a unique, surreal experience. At this place you’ll have lunch.
After this final visit, you will be transferred to the Baltra airport in time for your flight back to the mainland

Internal Flights
Flights from mainland Ecuador (Quito or Guayaquil) to the Galapagos are not included in the cruise price, but are arranged for you by AdventureSmith Explorations through your ship. Your Adventure Specialist will book these flights for you on the scheduled Galapagos flight for your particular departure. Airfares vary by departure; your Adventure Specialist will detail these for you in their proposal and on your invoice. On flights from mainland Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands, baggage weight limits are currently 50 pounds for checked items, and 17 pounds for carry-on plus a small personal item. Subject to change.
Activities
There are numerous opportunities to swim and snorkel. The underwater experience is an integral part of any Galapagos cruise. We encourage all travelers to try snorkeling. Wetsuits are available, either free of charge or to rent for a fee (see Inclusions and Exclusions), and are recommended from June to December.
Daily excursions from the boat to the islands will be made in pangas (inflatable skiffs). Trip members will hike from the landing point to specific areas for wildlife observation. Hiking time for most landings will be a couple of hours round-trip with lots of time to stop to study, photograph and enjoy the flora and fauna. Some landings are dry but many are “wet,” requiring cautious footing on slippery rocks. The boat staff will be on hand to assist.
Room Configuration
Single travelers wishing to book a double-occupancy cabin may do so at an 50% supplement of the per-person listed rate in select cabins upon availability. Groups of 4-16 passengers will receive a 10% discount.
Families & Children
Children up to 14 years and 11 months old receive 20% off the double occupancy rate. Kids 6 years and older are welcome aboard all departure dates for individual bookings. On select departures, kids ages 6–14 may also enjoy dedicated onboard activities including a bridge tour, tailored kids menus, ice cream festival, family-friendly movie night, wildlife trivia and games, plus occasional amenities and surprises.

Itinerary Notes
Use the itinerary as a guide only. Itineraries may be altered due to weather, wildlife, national park regulation or at the captain’s discretion. Due to the active nature of volcanoes in the Western Galapagos, alternate excursions may be offered. The ability to be flexible makes this type of small ship cruising unique.

Common Areas Aboard Galapagos Sea Star
The spacious yacht offers a large solarium with shaded and uncovered areas, two Jacuzzis and comfortable sun loungers. Social areas include a salon, library and video library and a play zone for kids (during family departures). Snorkeling equipment and eight twin sea kayaks are included aboard, as is a new glass-bottom boat.
Dining Aboard Galapagos Sea Star
Local and international dishes are specially designed by the onboard chef who utilizes novel culinary techniques with traditional South American flavors and textures, as well as farm-to-table products creating a unique and decadent dining experience. The Galapagos Sea Star's chef has been studying with top Ecuador chefs to create authentic and high-quality dishes that represent the best Ecuador has to offer. Meals are served buffet style.
An outdoor grill may allow for a BBQ on deck, as well. An intimate private dining experience may be available for two on the back deck by first-come, first-serve reservation upon arrival on board (additional cost may apply). The well-stocked bar offers soft drinks, juices, beer, wine, premium liquors and cocktails. Coffee, tea and water are available anytime in the dining room. Specific food restrictions may be accommodated if notified prior to sailing.
