All Alaska Quest charters start and end in Wrangell, Alaska. This sample route travels between Wrangell and the eastern shores of Admiralty Island, with highlights including the cultural outpost of Kake and the waterfall cliffs of Tracy or Endicott Arm. Depart Wrangell for Sumner Strait, searching for wildlife. After, anchor in a remote wilderness bay for a beachcomb and kayak opportunity.

Cruise Wrangell Narrows for a scenic passage between Sumner and Frederick sound. Explore the southernmost tidewater glacier, LeConte (ice permitting). Anchor at the entrance bar for an opportunity to kayak among ice. This evening, anchor in a remote bay.

Cruise Frederick sound searching for wildlife. The confluence of Stevens Passage and Frederick Sound has abundant resources to sustain the 4th largest cetacean, the humpback whale, and therefore acts as a primary feeding ground. Visit the Five Finger Lighthouse (weather and tide permitting). Anchor for the evening at Wood Spit in Holcomb Bay, a bay located at the terminal moraine of the tidewater glaciers in the Tracy Arm Fjord wilderness area.

Exclusions

The cost of air flights; ground transportation; pre- and post-cruise hotel nights; Alaskan State fishing licenses if you choose to fish; alcoholic beverages; gratuities; airport taxes; passports; visas; insurance of any kind (strongly recommended); excess baggage fees; personal items; medical costs; costs of hospitalization; port fees; sales tax; added-cost excursions; additional expenses arising from the delay or extension of a trip due to causes beyond the operator’s control.

Payment & Cancellation

In order to confirm this trip, a nonrefundable charter deposit of 25% of the total trip cost is required at the time of booking. The balance of the trip price is due by May 1st prior to departure date. Guests who must cancel their charter for any reason must do so in writing. Standard cancellations are subject to the following per-person penalties, based on number of days prior to departure:
90 days or more – $300 per person
89 to 61 days – 100% of deposit
60 to 31 days – 50% of total trip cost
30 to 0 days – 100% of total trip cost

This trip is subject to AdventureSmith Explorations’ Terms and Conditions. Please read this information carefully and call us if you have any questions. A Traveler Information Form, which includes a release of liability, must be completed and signed by all travelers. Your Adventure Specialist will send you a unique link to complete this form along with a packing list and extensive pre-departure and travel insurance information upon booking confirmation.

The Alaska Quest Charter Cruise begins and ends in Wrangell, Alaska (WRG). Your Adventure Specialist can confirm arrival and departure guidance upon booking. We highly recommend arriving one day prior to your trip start date in case of any flight delay, cancellation or lost luggage issues.

Activities

Whether you are looking for light activity options or more challenging outdoor pursuits, the ship’s crew can tailor most excursions to suit your skill level. Adventure activities may include guided hiking and beachcombing, sea kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, skiff excursions, wildlife viewing, bird watching, glacier viewing, whale watching, fishing (Alaska fishing license required), shrimping and crabbing. Activities are designed to take advantage of local weather and wildlife conditions and are based on the interests and ability of the group.
